Peter Sheperd
Truck, ARCA
Pete has a very nice background in Silver Crown, and stock cars.  The winner of the famous Roush Gong Show has landed him here at Roush.

A star in Driver X, Sheperd gained respect from drivers in the camp.  Petey should race quite a few ARCA races for the organization and threaten to be near the top.

Not the best qualifier and in time will be able to handle traffic better.  He is currently very raw but knows how to stomp the peddle.

Time will tell how he progresses but he will fun to watch in doing so

2006 will see Canadian Petey Shepherd begin his Roush Racing career at the wheel of a 2006 ARCA Ford Taurus. Shepherd was hand selected by Jack Roush as a result of becoming a formidable finalist in Discovery Channel’s 2005 (13-episode) driver search reality series – “Roush Racing – Driver X”.

In the show, Shepherd clearly emerges as one of the top stars, coming from out of nowhere to quickly being considered a phenomenal talent and future star of Roush Racing.

The Discovery Channel series (formerly called the Roush “Gong Show” in past iterations when the competition was conducted behind closed doors and closed tracks) is the same driver search and selection process that unearthed 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series champion Kurt Busch (1999), and future Nextel Cup star and Roush Racing Busch Series driver Todd Kluever (2004).

In 2005, Petey Shepherd exceeded the stringent testing expectations that govern Jack Roush’s meticulous selection method to be considered one of the next bright stars to be discovered using this process.

In 2006, Roush Racing will use this arrangement to provide Petey Shepherd with valuable racing experience and advance his career to the next level. Additional guidance and support will be provided by Roush Racing and 2003 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion crew chief Robbie Reiser who will oversee the program. Given Shepherd’s stunning performance in Roush Racing – Driver X it is everyone’s belief at Roush Racing that Petey Shepherd will quickly become a force to contend with during the 2006 ARCA season.
