NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Mark Martin calls Joey Logano “the real deal”. In fact, Mark says at 17, Joey already has more talent than some of the drivers he regularly competes against in the big leagues of NASCAR. And that’s because Joey Logano already has more than a dozen years of driving experience.
At the age of seven, Joey picked up his first Eastern Grand National Championship in Jr. Stock Quarter Midgets. He then followed up with Eastern Grand National Championships in 1998 and 1999 in the Stock and Mod Lite divisions.
Soon after, at age nine, Joey raced Bandoleros, winning the Summer Shootout Series at both Atlanta Motor Speedway and Lowe’s Motor Speedway, ending with another National Championship.
He then raced in Legend Cars, setting a track record of 14-consecutive wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway, along with winning the Young Lions National Championship. Joey won the Pro National Championship at the age of 12, making him the youngest in Legends history to do so.
At age 13, Joey competed in GA Late Models and the Southern All Stars by winning several events.
In 2004, Joey participated in the ASA National Touring Series and the ASA Late Model Series.
At age 15, Joey made his debut in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup
Series, making him the youngest competitor in the series that year.
It didn't take long for him to find victory, as he found himself in
victorylane in only his second career Pro Cup start at Mansfield
Motorsport Park in June of 2005. 2006 was another year of
experience for the young hot shoe in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup
Series as he competed in even more events. Joey raced the entire
Southern Division schedule and the Championship Series in addition
to select Northern division races. When all was said and done,
Joey accumulated two wins in the 2006 season in the competitive
series.
In addition to competing full time with the USAR Pro Cup Series Joey was among 16 development finalist drivers selected for GM Racing's Three-Step NASCAR's Next Generation of Stars program. They started September 12th with two days in Busch cars at Caraway Speedway in Asheboro, NC., and moved the next week to North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth and the Dale McDowell Dirt School. The program wrapped up at Nashville Superspeedway. Joey was selected as the overall driver at the GM Racing Development Driver Evaluation of 2006.
The 2007 season holds even more promise for Joey. He will make the step up to the NASCAR Busch East Series where he will compete on tracks up and down the east coast and throughout the country, as well as competing in select other racing events.
Joey entered the 11th grade in September 2006 and is an Honor Student at Abbington Hill School, Bricktown, New Jersey. His mom home schools him since moving to Georgia, before the move he attended St. John's School in Middletown, Connecticut. When he is not racing, Joey enjoys Hockey (Goalie), Golf, Snowmobiling, Skiing, Fishing, Fly tying, RC Cars, and Enjoying Life!
