Jon Wood is multi-talented and has already shown that the apple didnt fall far from the tree. Jon has been around racing since birth and it is obvious he has paid attention.
With a victory in the truck series and great runs in Busch, he was ready to make the Cup jump. In his first few Cup races he has been clean and stayed in good graces with most.
He is ultra quick and car control is not an issue. His biggest down fall is he cant stay out the wrong place at the wrong time. Racing incidents has placed him where he shouldnt be and in time he will be the 21 driver full time, right where he should be

Jon Wood’s racing career began with a big wheel race when he figured out he could gain an advantage over the other little competitors if he pushed off with his feet before starting to peddle.
The 24 year-old Stuart, Virginia native soon moved into go-karts after discovering that he enjoyed the speed and competition. His career continued on the local tracks in stock cars and then into Hooter’s Cup and what was then known as Winston West.
A berth on Jack Roush’s truck team in 2001 became the foundation for a full-time career in NASCAR. Over four seasons the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series produced two victories, 14 top- fives and 41 top-10 finishes. His best overall point finish in NCTS was fifth in 2003.
Jon’s first race in the Busch series was at Indianapolis Raceway Park in 2002 where he started sixth and finished sixth.
In 2005, Wood joined the Busch ranks on a full time basis, racing a Ford Taurus for Tad Geschickter’s ST Motorsports team. He finished 15th in the 2005 standings with two top five’s and six top ten’s to his credit.
When ST Motorsports merged with Wood Brothers in the Fall of 2005 to form Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, Jon Wood returned for another season behind the wheel of the No. 47 Clorox Ford Fusion in 2006. Wood also piloted the 47 Armor All Fusion in ten events. Wood raced to one top five finish in the season opener at Daytona and racked up an additional four top ten’s throughout the season.
Jon will return for a third straight year in 2007 as the driver of the No. 47 Clorox Ford Fusion in the Busch Series. Even better, he is slated to run ten NASCAR Nextel Cup races in the famed No. 21 in 2007.
Jon Wood is the grandson of the legendary Wood Brothers Racing founder, Glen Wood and the son of Wood Brothers Racing Co-Owner, Eddie Wood.
