Jeffrey Earnhardt has alot to race for. Following in his grandfathers footsteps Dale Sr, and Uncle Jr along with father Kerry, Jeffrey has the bloodline and fan following to propel him to the top.
The bottom line is Jeffrey is young and does not have a ton of experience. Earnhardt has shown he can get the job done when he finished 6th in his debut earlier this year.
The PR dream client has everything going for him and with DEI just breaking into developmental drivers, some fall backs will happen. With JR Motorsports guidance, Jeffrey could pick up experience quickly and move up the ranks as fans wait in anticipation.
Not a lot is known about Jeffrey's earlier years. The 17-year old is the middle child of Kerry and Renee Earnhardt, grandson of the late Dale Earnhardt and nephew to Dale Earnhardt Jr. He's still enrolled in high school in Mooresville, North Carolina.
His first race came in the Hornet Divison at Wythe Raceway in Wytheville, Virigina. He scored 3 feature wins and finished in the top 5 in divison points, winning Rookie of the Year despite missing 3 races when he ran in the tougher Street Stock Division. The following year he moved up to the Sportsman division at the Motor Mile Speedway in Radford Virigina, and while success was not as plentiful, the competiton was known to be much tougher, and by the end of the year Jeffery was showing improvement, having qualified on the outside pole and finishing 2nd in his final race of the season en route to a top 10 finish in the division standings. He also competed in the late model season finale at the track as a teammate to RCR developmental driver Allison Duncan.
During this time, General Motors created a driver developmental search program wherein they looked for who they believed to be the stars of the future and invited them to test a late model and a Busch car at 2 different tracks with the best moving on. Jeffery was not only invited, but made the final cut, getting many compliments from top-notch people along the way.
Jeffery was at a crossroads in his career: Should he stay at the late model level and win before he moved on, or try his hand in a larger series? The decision was made and in January of 2007 it was announced that Jeffery would be joining the family buisness, driving a #1 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch East Series for the entire 2007 season. He will also compete in the Bailey's 300, an all-star late model race at Martinsville Speedway. Jeffery's career is really starting to take off and it won't be long before everyone will be talking about the next generation of Earnhardts! Go get 'em, Jeffery!
